In coaching & leadership, we often celebrate powerful questions, but here is a quieter truth: A question becomes powerful not because it is complex… but because it is clean.

International Coaching Federation (ICF) currently organises its 8 core competencies under 4 clusters. In our explorations, something interesting emerged. Coaches and leaders were able to classify any competency from any framework, not just coaching but leadership, into one of three energies mentioned in our living traditions.

The Shrimath Valmiki Ramayana, often regarded as the world’s first epic, continues to offer an inexhaustible space for discussion, debate, and learning. Much before the Shrimath Bhagawad Gita, this sacred text spoke to common people about Dharma, not as abstract philosophy, but through its lived nuances and daily applications. If the Gita is seen as the essence of the Upanishads, then the Ramayana can be understood as the essence of the Vedas.

Power, boundaries, and consequences Around 530 BCE, a nomadic queen named Tomyris, ruler of the Massagetae, stood before the largest empire the world had ever known.

Ayodhyā now stands rightfully open to him. The throne is available. Power is within reach. Yet Rāma declares that he would not accept even śakratva, the sovereignty of the gods, if it demanded even a single step away from Dharma.

This is a framework for coaches, called the GRACE framework, it helps coaches to transform a coaching conversation.
